Shanghai Xinzhuang Industry Park (SHXIP) was established in August of 1995 with the approval of Shanghai Municipal Government. Its total area is 17.88 square kilometers. As one of the nearest industry parks to Shanghai downtown, SHXIP enjoys excellent geographical location and convenient transportation, 12 km to Hongqiao Airport, 35 km to Pudong International Airport, 6 km to Longwu Port, 36 km to Wusong Port, 55 km to Yangshan Deep Water Port. Express ways in the surrounding area, such as 312, 318, 320, lead to the other cities. It takes 15 minutes to Huning Highway and 5 minutes to Huhang Highway. Yindu Road Exit of the Ringroad-suporting Highway is merely 1 km. With the superior industrial comprehensive environment and modern administrative service system, Xinzhuang Industry Park has become the first industry park in China, which is certified under ISO 14001 Environment Management System, ISO 9001 Quality Management System and OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health & Safety Assessment Series. Now Xinzhuang Industry Park is trying to be National Eco-Industrial Demonstration Park, and National Development and Reform Commission list it as the second batch National Circular Economy Pilot Units. Till the end of 2007, there are 283 foreign investment companies settled in the park; 40 of which are listed in Fortune 500, 79 of which have a total investment exceeding USD 10 million. The total investment volume has exceeded USD 5.55 billion; the total foreign contractual capital is USD 2.37 billion. A lot of famous multinational corporations have settled in SHXIP, such as NEC, Emerson, SAINT-GOBAIN, AT&S, Evonik Degussa, Firmenich, Sandvik, Voith, Rhodia, Panasonic, Toshiba, Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric and Grainger. An urbanized industry park has come into being concentrating with Flat Panel Display Industry Base, Aerospace Scientific Research Industry center, investment centers, R&D centers and sales centers of multinational companies.
