A complete three-dimensional (water, air, road & rail) transportation network has been formed in Minhang District. The district owns the most convenient traffic condition among all the coastal cities.
Air transportation:Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport is located in Minhang District. It is 12km far away from the district government. It takes 30 minutes to drive from the district government to Pudong International Airport.
Water transportation: The inland river in Minhang links with Huangpu River in the south and Wusong River in the north. It trends westward to Songjiang District and Qingpu District, and eastward to Nanhui District, with a total navigable length of over 155 km. In the district there are Dazhi River port, Dianpu River port, Beisha port and Wujing loading area with an annual turnover of more than 20 million tons..
Road & Rail transportation: The total length of roads in Minhang has reached more than 950km. The three-dimensional traffic network has been fundamentally formed. No.318 and No.320 national highways pass through the district and lead to other provinces. The biggest interchange in Asia-Xinzhuang Interchange - is connected with Outer-ring Road, Mid-ring Road, Inner-ring Road, Yan'an High-elevated Road, Humin High-elevated Road, Huqingping Expressway, Xinfengjin Expressway, Shanghai-Hangzhou Expressway and Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway, which makes Minhang a transportation pivot in southwest Shanghai. According to the planning of Shanghai urban rail lines, 12 rail lines will go through Minhang District, among which Metro Line No.1, No.5 (Xinmin Elevated Light-rail Line) and No. 9 have been open to traffic. The termination of Shanghai to Beijing high-speed railway will be established beside Hongqiao International Airport. This area will become a modern transportation hub with the largest scale and most complete functions in China.

| The environment construction in Minhang District takes a leading place in China. At present, the greenery coverage ratio of the district is 39.2% and public greenery area per capita is 15.8m2, which is 4m2 more than the downtown average. The rate of Good Air Quality has reached 90%. In 1999, Minhang was evaluated as the first Environment Protection Model Zone in China. In 2000, Minhang District became the State Garden Area. In 2001, it received the award of Chinese Model Living Environment. In 2002, the United Nations issued "Dubai International Award for Model Practice on Improving Living Environment" to Minhang District. In 2006, Minhang has won the honorable title of "State Ecological Area" and became the first prefecture administrative region to achieve this award. Minhang District government is always attaching great importance to infrastructure construction. Water, electricity, gas, telecommunication and sewage are well supplied in the district.
Water：The total sales amount of water comes to 275 million m3 in 2006. All the city water comes from the upper part of Huangpu River.
Electricity：In the district, there are seven 220kv substations, two 110kv substation and seventy-four 35kv substations.
Gas：The family gas supply ratio has reached 100%, which is No. 1 in Shanghai. The pipelines of East Ocean nature gas have been laid into the district, which has already reached a length of 250km. The natural gas supply has already been available throughout the district.
Telecommunication：The total capacity of telephone exchanges in Minhang has reached 911,800. The number of Telephone and ADSL subscribers has increased to 848,700 and 281,900 respectively.
Sewage：By the end of 2007, in Minhang District there are 2 sewage treatment factories and 42 sewage pump stations with a total sewage pipeline of 895 km. The sewage collection and treatment ratio has reached 78% with a daily sewage collection and treatment capacity of 546,000 tons. The water environment has been protected efficiently in the district. |
